During the reconstruction period, the well-acknowledged Social Mobilization and Development Programme (SMDP) of GSS has been redesigned in a smaller scale as Civil Society, Rights and Governance (CRG) Programme.
It includes four components-
- Gonoshangathan (GS), the organisational network of the landless and the poor at the village level especially the women;
- The National Legal Aid Network (NLAN) of lawyers providing legal aid to the poor in the GSS operated villages;
- Centre for Education & Culture (CEC), a civil society forum of different sectors including the women groups, the media, the lawyers, doctors, cultural activists and the students.
- Popular Theatre Group (PTG) who through GonoNatok (street theatre) help build grassroots civil society capacity to express themselves on issues of their concern and fight for their rights.
The project covers 9 districts i.e. Panchagar, Nilphamary, Jessore, Norail, Bagerhat, Khulna, Kustia, Faridpur and Mymensingh in Bangladesh.
This is a three-year (with extension of 3 months) project with financial support of Manusher Jonno (MJ).
